YVONNE TIBBS

Flibberty Jibbet
Flibberty Jibbet awoke with moan
And a feeling that she was no longer alone
All round her bedchamber did Flibberty peep
Then Flibberty Jibbet went right back to sleep
Flibberty Jibbet awoke with a sigh
A caress like a sparrows wing across her bare thigh
But Flibberty Jibbet, she paid it no heed
She yanked the warm bedclothes back over her knees
Flibberty Jibbet awoke with a frown
Something was creeping across her nightgown
But Flibberty Jibbet didn’t easily scare
She flipped on the light… no one was there
Flibberty Jibbet awoke with a swear
Quite certain the creature was now in her hair
She combed her fair tresses clean down to her head
Then Flibberty Jibbet crawled back into bed
Flibberty Jibbet awoke with a start
Attempting to quiet her turbulent heart
She'd dreamt of a monster with long hairy legs
Burrowed deep in her mattress protecting its eggs
Flibberty Jibbet awoke with a scream
For she realized at last, that it wasn't a dream
Millions of babies, with billions of eyes
Swarmed over her body, immune to her cries
Flibberty Jibbet will waken no more
Flibberty Jibbet will not even snore
For Flibberty Jibbet still lies on her back
The remains of a spider's brood's very first snack
Possession
He drew me close, lifted me up and spun me round
He broke the ties that held me tethered to the ground
You’ll never have him, never take away what’s mine
For if you do, upon your bones I’ll surely dine
See the fire flicker brightly in his eyes
Hear the magic in his sighs, those blessed sighs
Gliding oer me like the moon over the sea
His love engulfed me, left me weak with ecstasy
Just one spark, one tiny flicker from his flame
Shatters reasoning, impairs judgment, consumes shame
Over powered, overwrought, and overcome
My heart is forfeit, soul is lost, and lifes undone
He’s all I yearn for, all I seek, all I require
He’s all I breathe for, all I want, all I desire
So now I follow like a child upon his arm
Hoping only, for one moment of his charms
A loving look, a fond caress, a wayward smile
Would all my fears, all my misgivings reconcile
Yet does he want me, does he feel me, does he care
Can he sense the constant torment in my stare
So gaze upon him, but never near him, shall you tread
Lest your comrades in the morning, find you dead
For in his shadow, close behind him I will be
That fiendish angel, that tender demon, belongs to me
He drew me close, lifted me up and spun me round
He broke the ties that held me tethered to the ground
You’ll never have him, never take away what’s mine
For if you do, upon your bones I’ll surely dine
See the fire flicker brightly in his eyes
Hear the magic in his sighs, those blessed sighs
Gliding oer me like the moon over the sea
